We'll, I guess I'll kick it off.  We immediately thought of this building when we heard about the challenge.  Not only is it a cool shape that would be a neat build in and of itself, it also has a monorail running through the lobby, how cool is that?  Yes folks, I'm talking about the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World.  Here are some pics of the real thing:

A few of the features we wanted to replicate was obviously the shape.  We also wanted to somehow include the balconies in the rooms.  And obviously we wanted to include the monorail rolling through the main lobby of the resort.  The monorail is pretty much what set the size of the project.  We wanted it to look in reasonable proportion to the real thing.  The main building ended up being 51"x32"x29".  It's the biggest build I've made...the pictures don't really do it justice wrt size.

Overall Build. The room on top is a restaurant in real life...with great views of the park.

End View.  The wall of windows was replicated from the real thing.  The monorail entrance/exit is located in approximately the same location as the real building.  I went out and bought a monorail depot just for the monorail doors for this build.

Side view.  Notice the balconies which represent different rooms in the resort.  Those guys look like they are having fun! Wall sections at the bottom replicate the real thing. Also the angled "concrete" panels are replicated with white decks.  Each of the two main walls uses 152 full Rokenbok beams (plus a lot of other parts).

Probably my personal favorite part was the three dimensional look between the outer supports and the decks and "balconies".  A lot of angle blocks were used in this build!

We also spent quite a while on the interior.  One of the most amazing things about the real building is walking through the lobby when a monorail goes through.  We tried to replicate four main features of the Contemporary Resort interior including the monorail depot (of course!), a large central beam that goes from the floor to the ceiling (where the elevators are in the real building), the gift shop, and one of my favorite restaurants at WDW, Chef Mickey's.  Each is laid out in approximately the same position as it is in the real building.

All the elements of the interior can be seen in the photo.  The restaurant is shown in the bottom right of the photo.  The tables are inventors kit wheels without the tires.  Yes, I borrowed the idea of using the roadways slide as steps, that someone posted on these forums.

Top view of the monorail depot

Rokenbok gear for sale at the Giftshop!

Another view of the interior...this one shows the ceiling.

Thanks for looking!  Sorry for all the pictures, I couldn't help myself.

You can create your own original design; it does not need to be a replica of an existing structure.  How about a moon base, Rokenbok capital building, wind generator factory building, fusion power plant. . .  anything!
